The Tool Drive Project (http://www.tooldriveproject.net/) is happy to bring you the second of several Tool soundboard torrents. This recording has not previously circulated widely, let alone with known generation info. An old friend of ours has retired from the game and donated his collection to the Tool Drive. Look for more upgrades and 'new' recordings in the near future.

I saw Tool many times in SoCal between '91 and '93. This was the last time I saw them and I haven't seen them since. I'd love to see them these days, but it just never seems to work out with my schedule.

This show brings back a lot of mixed emotions. After the '91 and '92 Lollas were held at Irvine Meadows, no one was very happy this was going to be on a flat dirt field in Irwindale. Parking was horrendous. Getting in and out of the venue was horrendous. One nice thing about this day was Smashing Pumpkins had just released Siamese Dream the previous Tuesday and we were cranking that for *hours,* waiting in the line to get in.

Once inside the venue, things didn't get any better. The crowd was populated with teenagers out to be stupid and not really pay attention to the music. The stage was situated on a dirt field, so you were constantly in the middle of a dust storm when the bands were playing. We wished we would've traveled north to the Bay Area and saw the show at Shoreline. We should've followed our hearts. This became the "underrated" Lolla, because of the shitty venue. We didn't make the mistake twice. We went to Shoreline for the '94 show and had a wonderful time. The L.A. show was again on some dirt field in a bad neighborhood.

One of the big minuses of the day was since it was teeny bop heaven (or Hell, depending on your viewpoint), alcohol was not allowed in the performance areas. The "beer garden" was located half a mile from the stages, where you could not see *anything* and you couldn't hear anything, either.

There was some *great* music to offset all the crap: Thurston Moore (from Sonic Youth) and Sebadoh on the side stage. Tool, Dinosaur Jr. and Alice In Chains on the main stage. We made sure to stay away from Rage Against The Machine due to the majority of idiot kids in the crowd. Primus (who we all loved) turned in an odd performance as headliners. Not one of their best.

I'm looking forward to hearing this set again after all these years. It was one of the highlights of the day. Thank you very much for sharing this.
