cu notes: Taped from, pretty much, center-soundboard, this recording captures one hell of a good performance of Tool. By contrast to their Australian tour in 2001, the setlist is quite similar although the energy of the performance seems more inspired & MJK is more talkative as well. The vocals are exceptionally crisp, especially for an Australian recording, the guitar is sharp, the bass is finely tuned although, on a system, may be slightly mature, and the drums + cymbal clashes are superb. Any way you break it down, this is one good listen that will not leave one disappointed in any way, shape or form. Apparently, the taper released this in middle 2003 & this will, most likely, be a very popular and recommended recording. This is, IMO, the finest of the Australian & New Zealand recordings from this era. Also, this recording features the absolute -best- version + intro to Jimmy this fan has ever heard. Definitely one for the collector, enthusiast & for anyone desiring to hear a brilliant recording. According to the taper, the CD version was heavily equalized from the raw DAT. However, that itself sounds quite nice.
